How I'm Using Payhip To Easily Sell My Books & Courses
Note: I'm an active user and affiliate of Payhip. This means if you sign up and pay for their program, I'll get a percentage of your payment, which helps me create more content like this.
When I started dabbling with online courses, I launched them through Skillshare. This was a great starting point, and I earned a few hundred bucks from that experiment. But, they eventually raised their standards and performance requirements for courses, and since my courses did not reach that level, my programs were archived.
I was stuck, and I wanted a way to continue offering these Path of the Freelancer courses while also exploring how I could easily sell digital copies of my books outside of Amazon (since they take a big cut). With clients, I've used Gumroad, Shopify, and Samcart, among many shopping cart systems.
But it was Payhip that got my attention because of how easy it was to use and because of their pricing model, which is a percentage of sales to start, and then as your sales grow, you can switch to a flat monthly fee. This makes it an easy place to start, and then when you scale, you're not paying an arm and a leg for the shopping cart.
Their system allows for selling online courses and digital products. I've got Path of the Freelancer available for $8.99 instead of $9.99 on Amazon, and I've made a handful of sales this way. I was even able to run a collaborative promotion for my book with a friend, and his sales were tracked, so I could compensate him for helping to sell some of my books to freelancers!
I've also got my Path of the Freelancer and the Most Effective SEO Task courses on there as well.
I plan to add my book for small business owners, The Jump. And I'm contemplating, once I have my next book finished, allowing people to order it directly from me before launching it on Amazon (as an experiment).
After using Payhip and liking their system, I also decided to join their affiliate program and help promote it to others who want to sell digital products and courses. It's a great app for getting started, and it grows with you as you scale up your business.
And, now that I'm getting serious about monetizing my content creation, this shopping cart function is one of the pieces for putting the puzzle together.

Here's a little history about the origins of the company.
"Payhip was created back in 2011, as there was no easy and reliable way to sell digital products, courses, coaching, or memberships. Payhip is bootstrapped (self-funded) and profitable. The team is very user-focused and open to all feedback, so please do get in touch!"
