SEO Comes Down To These Three Things You Can Control
1. Publishing Rich Content
Creating and publishing rich content can be as simple as writing blog posts 600-1,200 words long every week (or better yet, multiple times per week) for a few years.
If you want to take it to the highest level, I've got a free detailed checklist for blog posts here and landing pages here, outlining all the ingredients for a rich multimedia page that can dominate. But it's not necessary for most people who don't yet have a library or the habit of publishing regularly.
By simply committing and doing the hard thing of writing and publishing, you'll set yourself apart from everyone else who is not doing those things.
2. Updating Your Content
If you neglect content that is driving traffic from Google, it will go away. But with just a few minutes of attention, you can revisit one of your past blog posts or landing pages and make a few updates.
I've had rich content pages getting a little bit of activity on Google that skyrocketed in search after I made a few updates to the content.
It's also important to keep content updated because Google is essentially a giant game of King of the Hill. The age of content and how much it's been updated give you huge advantages over competitors. So if a competitor rises above you on Google, often a simple content refresh will put you back on top, especially if you were up top before.
And if you neglect your content, competitors will get all the traffic you were receiving.
My recommendation is that you update the content at least every two years. Make it more often for content that drives leads and sales.
3. The Most Effective SEO Task: Title Tag Updates
If you have a library of rich content, the most important and effective SEO task to focus on is updating the title tags.
This one action can transform a page getting no visibility on Google to dominating the top of page 1.
When clients hire me as their SEO consultant, title tags are the first thing we focus on improving because of how much traffic we can generate with minimal time and effort. You can explore some case studies of how many visitors I was able to generate with one of my clients here.
If you don't know how to update your title tags and what to include in them, I've got a simple and easy training program you can learn more about here. My training module lets anybody rapidly become a title change expert.
If you'd prefer to outsource it, shoot me a message and let's explore your goals.
