How to Move Forward When Your Company Lacks Clear Vision [For StartupNation]
If you've been around me for any amount of time this year, you've probably heard me talking about bricks, walls, and building things (What?). The essence of this metaphor is focused on how we can take action today when we don't have clarity on vision, where we're going.
Well, for those of you who have resonated with that message and those now intrigued by it, StartupNation invited me to write a blog post about it. I'm quite proud of the final version, so check out the article here titled, "How to Move Forward When Your Startup Lacks Clear Vision".
Update: I've recorded a video of me talking through this concept on my YouTube channel and have added the video above for those who would prefer to watch instead of read. Here are some of the new elements added in the video
- One of the things I regret is not getting serious about YouTube much earlier. I started publishing my podcast episodes to YouTube in 2017, but it wasn't until 2025 that I got serious about YouTube because I discovered the gold mine of an opportunity that it truly was.
- When I shut down my business, I thought I was going to have to get a job, but thankfully, I didn't. I was able to take the tension of not knowing, and what my fears were, and what my desires were, and grow into a stronger, better person that actually enabled me as a freelancer.
- As opposed to neglecting their project while I sought out the next one, which is one of the things I struggled with when I had my marketing company, I focused on doing good work.
- We can create win-wins where, if you have to go one way or another, we win either way.
- When we have successes, it'll give us influence and authority to lobby for the direction that the company or the business department, or the project is ultimately going."
